If you're not going to put any effort into asking good questions nobody is
going to put effort into answering them.
Do you want to write your own forum application? If so, you'll need about 5+
years of web programming experience. Assuming that you don't want to do that,
you can use an existing forum application. You can find all about them by
googling as FatCat suggested. If this doesn't answer your question, you need to
be more specific. We are not mind readers.

and how you guys cant understand a simple question is beyond me so how u guys
get paid to answer people's question is something u cant do if u cant even
answer a simple question from someone that asked
by not even being able to answer a simple little question n telling them to
pretty much go use a different thing to make forums has 2 problems with it
1. its bad for the company
2. you aint giving ppl a chance which will push ppl away from useing the
program made by this company[/q]

If you want forums you need to post more about your server setup. Are you
using Linux or Windows? Do you need it to be in PHP/mySQL, or ASP/MS SQL?
There are plenty of scripts out there. If you want PHP/mySQL ones look below

Paid:
Invision Board - http://www.invisionboard.com
vBulletin - http://www.vbulletin.com
UBB Threads - http://www.ubbcentral.com/

Free:
phpBB - http://www.phpbb.com
Simple Machines - http://www.simplemachines.org
myBB - http://www.mybboard.net

How about another question; why would unpaid volunteers on this forum bother
answering a question when the best answer (Google free forums) has already
been given and the original poster starts coming back with an attitude just
because he wanted a different answer?

A lot of people in this forum get paid to write websites; few of us would
consider writing something from scratch which has already been done very
well as open source or commercial software. It just doesn't give any payback
for the time involved.

If you want to learn how to write one as an academic exercise, Google is
still your best friend.

Regards,

Pete.

You would be surprised. And frankly, if you have to ask how to make a forum
yourself, then you do not have the required skills. Period.

It was a very unclear question.

You seem to have us confused with someone else. This is a user to user forum.
We are not employees.

Anyway, if you want to build a forum yourself, what server side language are
you skilled in? What type of projects like this have you constructed before. We
can give you some suggested resources to read, but we can't teach you how to
program an applications that may have tens of thousands of lines of code in a
user forum.

So what exactly are you asking?

The OP said they don't want to use a script - they want to build it themselves.
