flv video just shows jumbled skin buttons

In DW cs4 when I place a flv as progressive and I've tried several types of
skin, the video doesn't show up only a jumbled display of the buttons of the
skin. Previewed both Firefox and IE. Flash 10 is installed on my computer.
I've tried placing the flv on a brand new html page and get the same thing. I
must be something simple but please help. TIA

BTW and I can't fathom that it has anything to do with it but after I logged
in to the adobe site and then tried to post here, it asked my for my Nickname.
When I put in mine dirkdantuma is said it was already taken. Yeah by me but
Adobe would not let me get around it even by re-logging in.. hence.. third
nickname.

May we see a link to a problem page.

I hadn't up loaded the page last night because it didn't look right when I
previewed in browser. I did this morning and it does play correctly once
uploaded but it still does not when I preview in browser (firefox nor IE) from
inside DW. So I guess it is either a problem with DW's interfacing with my
browsers or maybe a problem with my local file structure. I keep looking but
at least I can get it to work where it counts.

Also my nickname problem resolved when I signed in this morning. You never
know what fixes itself when you re-boot.

oops I guess the nickname thing did not resolve even though it does say
"Welcome Dirk_Dantuma" at the top of the page. Maybe I should give it a kick
because you never know what will resolve itself when you give your computer a
good kick in the...

did you ever work out the jumbled button thing? coz i'm having the same
problem and it's driving me nuts...it DOES work on the web server, but
gee it would be nice to be able to preview it...

i just started having the same problem. I've been previewing flv
files in dreamweaver for the past 2 years and now all of a sudden it
doesn't work. Forget giving the computer a good kick in the..... I'm
ready to throw it off the roof.

Have any of you did any recent updates that could of affected
dreamweaver. If any of you figure this out, please let me know and I
will do the same.

I am having the same issues as well. I did notice that my issue
started when my computer decided to up itself to SP3 in Windows XP.
I never had an issue in DW CS3 with this, so I went back to CS3 to see
if the FLV video insert works and no dice. I got a javascript error.
So, both versions, CS3/4 are hosed. All files generate properly in
terms of scripts and supporting files and they are in the right
directories. I even created a local HTML page with nothing but a FLV
file, to see if I could isolate the issue, no dice. Is there an Adobe
workaround? Do they know about how this impacts any web development?

I'm in the same boat. jumbled icons in LiveView and in browser preview (IE, Firefox, Chrome)...Windows XP, SP3, running DW CS4. Can't view FLV locally but can on production server.

I never did get it to work properly. I thought it was maybe XP SP2 (I haven't
updated the computer with DW CS4 yet), but I see you are using SP3. SWF files
work fine. I was using Go Live CS2 and used the wizard to import the old site.
I wonder if that has anything to do with the way DW set itself up and now has
this problem previewing FLV files..
