Default floating images/stationery background - 04-01-2009 , 08:52 AM

I want to design a website that has a feel of an art gallery wall, so the
background image would be of a wallpaper effect (that also fills the whole of
the browser window) with gold ornate frames on top.
I would like to place an image of a frame on top of the wallpaper effect, so
that when the browser window is re-sized, the frame is always centered and the
wallpaper effect always fills the browser window.
Can anyone advise on the best way to do this?
Would I be best setting the wallpaper as the background image? And if so,
bearing in mind the gold frame would have a transparent bg (so it looks like it
is hanging on the wall), what is the best file format for this?

I suggest you choose a different visual metaphor. This one is not going to
be easy to achieve without making other unacceptable compromises. However,
you can get a flexible frame as you describe against any background image
using a simple HTML/CSS technique shown here -

Look at the HTML and CSS. Open the file in DW. Note that no matter how
tall you make the page, the drop shadow expands....
