Default Flash movie alternatives - 09-04-2006 , 01:06 PM

I am going to include a Flash movie on my Home Page. What are the
considerations re. doing this? For example, if a user does not have
Broadband/Flash Player, what should I offer as an alternative?
And what can I do with this and any future Flash movies I include to comply
with accessability?

Many thanks.

when you select your media object in design view you'll see it's
properties in the properties tool bar at the bottom of the page. you'll
see the "Src" field with the objects path beside it and then directly
below that you'll see "Plg URL" which means oddly enough plugin
website. Enter the url where the user can download the required plugin
there (at "Plg URL")

i believe the flash dl page is:
http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash

good luck

Flash was designed before broadband, and so if you are careful in your
design this should not be a big issue. Flash only becomes an issue with
accessibility if you are using it for navigation (in which case you have a
bigger issue with Search Engines). In such cases offer a non flash based
navigation option.

May have been created before broadband but has become bloated in each
update. The rest is perfectly valid.
