Default Flash links - 11-10-2004 , 08:06 PM

I used flash to create a small animation which I placed on a webpage. It's in
a layer that has to be positioned exactly. I'd like to give some sort of
behaviour or action to the movie or the layer that would have it get an url or
link when it was clicked by a visitor. That certainly seems like a reasonable
request but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do it. Any advice?

It might be best to attempt this from inside Flash. You "might" be able to
add the behavior to the layer itself, but I doubt you could get it to work
by anyone clicking on the actual movie. You could get it to work by clicking
in the layer just outside the movie by having your layer a tad bit larger
than the movie, but this already seems problematic. I would try using an
invisible or transparent button that covers the entire movie from within
Flash. Assuming there are no other actions in the movie, this may work.

Remember too that Flash movies always take a dominant z-index. You can't
place another layer on top of a layer holding a Flash movie.

you need to put the link or the action IN the flash file, i.e. not in
Dreamweaver but in Flash.
