Default Flash & Layers? - 07-12-2004 , 07:58 PM

I have studio mx 6.0 and it has dreamweaver, fireworks, freehand and extention
manager but I dont see flash. I do however have flash Icons when I open
dreamweaver and have been able to play with layers, is this a smaller version
of flash, I am so confused. All I want to do is create appearing and
disapearing text.

Studio MX includes Flash, so you should have it on your disk unless the
install went wrong. However, you need to open it as a separate program,
not from within Dreamweaver. The Flash icon you see on the insert bar is
for inserting flash files into Dreamweaver.

Look in your Program Files > Macromedia folder (assuming a Windows OS)
and you should see a FLASH MX folder. Open it to find the Flash.exe
program and load it. Try the Tutorials - they give you a good basic
intro to the program and what it can do.

Layers are not Flash. Layers are a part of HTML, and are used for
positioning items on a page and for structuring content in an html document.

Good luck, and have fun!

Opps - I didn't finish.

You can use Layers to show and hide text. You put your text inside a
ayer or layers, and then use the Behavior window to create javascript
that will show or hide individual layers based on some user action
(clicks, mouse-overs, etc.). The DW help has step-by-step instructions
on how to get this working.
