Default Flash and Dreamweaver - 07-06-2004 , 10:28 AM

I have this flash animation on a page I am working on. Right before the
animation loads the area that the animation occupies turns white for a second.
Being that the entire page is black this does not look right. I would like to
know if there is a way to get rid of it. I alread asked this question in the
flash forum and they told me to ask here. the site is www.piscatello.com, click
on the name in the index page and a new window pops up. in the new window the
animation to the right is what I am refering to. Thanks

Firstly you are using popups and frames, which is bad form and design
to begin with. My pop-up blocker blocked this, but for your sake I
decided to continue, would others?

There is a much better way of doing it, ie get rid of the main page
and let the user choose where they want to be. Display the current
month's news and provide navigation to the other months for example.

Anyways, you need to get rid of the frames for the white flash to
stop.

Cheers,
Tom

Easy solution: get rid of the Flash. I can't read it and it seems to
have no function (if you click on it nothing happens.) Since it is
illegible--although very artistic--it is a doodad. Lop it off.

desginintern, don't take 'Dreamweaver vs. Flash' geeky rivalry and
contempt for an answer.
If something doesn't work with your flash movie in your html page, there
must be a real answer to your problem.
I can't see your original question, so you might want torepost it, I'll
look for it and try to help, not preach biased opinions.

The Flash may be inspected here:
www.piscatello.com
Click the words in the left and a new window will open.

It contains text characters that look like they are words but which are
difficult to impossible to read because they are evenly spaced with no
spaces between words and arbitrarily wrapped to a new line when space
runs out. A pretty good way to make something illegible. Since it has no
function and can't be read I don't see what value it brings to
experiencing the site.

oh, i thought there was a technical problem.
But it's just a matter of taste.

Well, the OP wanted there to be no delay before the Flash starts. So it
is sort of a technical problem. I don't think that's possible unless
there is some way to pre-load it invisibly on the launch page.

Perhaps.
