Fixed size editable region

I've been reading some of the posts on editable regions. I want an editable
region that 1)has an image placeholder in it and 2) is a fixed size so that it
will not expand outside of my slice. I get the impression that I can't do
that.......or can I?

Editable regions do not define layout. They only define content. If you
want this content to have certain layout properties, that's what you do with
HTML and CSS, not with template regions.
