I am wanting to have a fixed background and then a square box with my content in. I dont want the background to move when I scroll down the page, but I do want the box with my content to scroll. |
|
Next question... how come when I design a page in Dreamweaver, when I view it in IE its positioned completely different? |

I dont want the background to move when I scroll down the page, but I do want the box with my content to scroll. Any ideas how I can do this? Next question... how come when I design a page in Dreamweaver, when I view it in IE its positioned completely different? i.e. I centre a picture in Dreamweaver and when I view it in IE its in the top left hand corner etc its very random Thanks in advance |

I am wanting to have a fixed background and then a square box with my content in. I dont want the background to move when I scroll down the page, but I do want the box with my content to scroll. The fixed background is simple, but if only the content region is scrolling, why do you need a fixed background. |

However either I'm getting old or the whole world is going mad because lately I can't understand about 80% of the posts in this forum ![]() |

I think what they mean is they want the content to scroll 'normally' not in a scrolling <div> but the background to remain static. Thanks for your help so far... Im making a photography website, here is the design so far Home Page - http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...e/HomePage.jpg Gallery - http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...lleryPage1.jpg the Home Page doesnt need to scroll at all, it just needs to sit exactly like that, as if that was the full page. the gallery however, with it going lengthways, will need to scroll to view the images, however I dont want the background to move with it. as an example, please see http://www.sophiepickard.co.uk/webgallery1.php You may need to copy and paste the links above manually ![]() Any help would be appreciated... Thanks |

Out of curiosity, when making a web page... what size/dimensions do you set your page? |
|
I did think that was the case but I was having issues with the positioning when I did that. I think part of the problem is the design of the background. Out of curiosity, when making a web page... what size/dimensions do you set your page? I make my websites first in photoshop and then slice them into Dreamweaver |
