We have some users who have created a small web site with very complex fireworks files. There are only a dozen or so pages, but the site overall has about 7000 files. When they upload the site dreamweaver hits the cpu very hard and takes 30 - 40 minutes to upload the files. Using Dreamweaver MX the program often runs out of memory (it has 1GB of physical memor). Using Dreamweaver MX 2004 it still pegs the cpu for 1/2 hour, but it eventually finishes without serious memory complaint (even though that machine only has 512 MB memor). It would appear that Dreamweaver and or fireworks does some complex dependency checking and that especially under Dweaver MX it may exhaust any reasonable amount of memory when using fireworks files as I have described. Is the behavior I have described expected? Obviously web pages should not be produced this way, and the users will eventually have to change them, but I need some sort of informed opinion from experienced dreamweaver people to bring to them if I am to tell them that what they are trying to do is not going to work well with dreamweaver. If what I have described is not expected behaviour I would verfy much appreciate any suggestions for improving things. Any particular page I should look at? Right off the bat, I like the look of the home page, but I'm definitely not happy with the code or the layout approach.... |

And I'm wondering what a search engine or disabled users will see from it ... |
