Default Finding orphanaged CSS styles - 07-06-2004 , 03:09 AM

I think I asked this a while ago, but don't remember if I got any
satisfying reply or not (yeah, yeah, I know I'm getting senile...):

Every time I make a site, I test various styles. Some I use, some I
don't and I sometimes forget to delete the latter from the styelsheet(s)
right away. So, when it's time to launch the site, I have (or think I
have) a bunch of styles that aren't used anywhere.

Is there any way I can find that out by doing something similar as DW's
"check links sitewide"? Or is it the "good old" manual check that's all
there is? I heard that GoLive <shudder> can do it.....

I don't know the answer to your question but maybe a 'wish list
submission' would be something similar to a dtp programme, wherby you
can collect for output.

I think it can be done in TopStyle.

Thanks Peter,

As Osgood says, I'm on Mac (which I forgot to mention) so TopStyle is
not for me.
I just wanted to know if there's anyway DW can do it, and that I've missed..

I don't think so, but it doesn't matter. I'm not prepared getting yet
another app just for this. Thought I could do it in DW...

Hi Dan

A little more time consuming than you may have wanted but you could use
the find feature to see if a lass/is exists in your pages and delete
unused styles based on it's findings.

That's what I (usually) do now.

(Now, don't tell people this: I sometimes don't bother to check at all
and can leave half a dozen of unused "lasses" <g> in the stylesheet. I
know it doesn't really matter but it upsets the tidier half of me).

I'll go to the MM and make a suggestions anyway..

Cheers,
