Default Find & Replace bug - fixed yet? - 06-10-2004 , 04:33 PM

Does anyone know whether the bug that ends up in DW MX2004 crashing when you
hit Ctrl+F has been resolved?

Althernatively, is there a workaround that will prevent it happening?

Regards

Jos

There's a bug? It's always worked for me.

Hi Jerry

Yes - it was reasonably well commented on in the forums when MX 2004 was
launched - basically what happens is that on hitting Ctrl-F, the F& R dialog
pops up then an alert window pops up with

"While executing DWMenu_Edit_Find_Replace command in menus.xml, the
following JavaScript error(S) occurred:
Exception thrown in native function."

On clicking 'OK', Dreamweaver simply quits

It's mighty frustrating that's for sure...

It seems to happen most frequently when there are no files open and you want
to search an entire directory.

Does anyone have any pearls of wisdom?

Cheers

Jos

as a first try at fixing, do you have Norton A/v?
With real-time scanning?
Turn off real-time scan, or use the norton options button to exclude the
macromedia program folder, and the macromedia folder for You as a User in
Documents & Settings.

Second guess, is this "Local Site Folder" on a network drive?
If possible, put it truly local, then Recreate the site cache, under
Advanced under the Site menu.
If cache won't recreate without locking up, go into Manage Sites and
duplicate this site definition.

This happened to me... and I found via Google Groups the solution... it
involved going into the registry and clearing out some entries.
