Fatal Error exception

I have been trying to use a template site and for some reason when I change the
view in Dreamweaver mx from code to design I receive a pop up with the message:
Error Fatal Exception, dreamweaver then closes down.

I don't know if this has to do with background images for the main pages in
the template (which have been changed to plain white images) or if there is a
fault in the template as a whole although the site shows correctly in the
browser.

Has anyone heard of this? If so can you help? I'm not an expert granted, but
surely this shouldn't be happening.

The site isn't uploaded to the internet as yet, so I can't add a link here. I
can't seem to get very far with it because of the fatal error problem and it
shutting down. Apologies. I really am not well versed in web design and this
is my first attempt so I am learning as I go along.
