Extracting a template out of an existing website

Hi,

Someone asked me to make some changes of his existing website. It is
template looked with lots of errors on. Is there an easy way to create the
template from one of the htm files?
I tried it but it always gave me line errors and other head aches.

Additionally, there is no template on the server. That's why I have to
create it.
And lot's of webpages so manually editing each site would take ages.
