Default Extra Closing Tags ignored by MX - 11-17-2004 , 04:29 PM

:disgust;
Does anyone know of a way to get DW MX to highlight extra closing tags such as
</div> or </strong>? Although IE ignores these, they cause Netscape 4 to mess
up a page, and some people still use that browser. I really appreciated that DW
4 highlights extra closing tags so you can clean them up if you want to. I've
tried lots of options with Preferenes, but the tag validator continues to
ignore these extra tags as if they don't exist. I don't get it. I noticed I
could set a preference for DW to remove them, but I just want them to be
flagged. Too many problems when I let DW rewrite code.

Go to:

View > Code View Options > Highlight Invalid HTML

Not sure why this is off by default.

I do have this option checked:
View > Code View Options > Highlight Invalid HTML

And it does highlight extra closing tags such as </td>, but ignores extra
</div> and </strong>. I guess they aren't considered important errors (ignored
by IE). Problem is these extra tags do mess up netscape 4.
