Default Error Type: 0x80004005 - 07-15-2003 , 08:06 AM

Hi all,

I am supposd to be teaching DWMX right now and have broke for an early lunch as we are having problems with:

Error Type:
Provider (0x80004005)
Unspecified error
/dwtest.asp, line 8

which was prviously "Jet engine.... could not access file unknown''

when testing on the live data view or on IE using IIS

I have read a few similar problems on here and tried the methods to solve (changing file permissions, changing registry security), and when I try many of them, it works once, then when I hit refresh or try again, it reverts to the errors (and resets the permissions I had relaxed).

We're using Win XP pro, on Admin logins.

I've never seen this problem before, but its on all the machines here now.

Any ideas please ?

Thanks....

I too have had this problem, seem to occur for no reason.

Eventully found that when I making changes in the database, it would loose
the IUSR permissions on the database file, once I gave it full permissions
again it worked ok.

Restarting the machine also helped.

Regards,

Andy.

what's the most recent version of MDAC that's installed on the server? You
may need to update it.
