Default Error "Server Busy" when attempting to Manage Sites - 11-01-2004 , 02:18 PM

:confused; I am having a new problem with Dreamweaver, one I have never
encountered. When I try to manage my sites using the FILE tab drop-down list
the system comes back with a pop-up window declaring "Server Busy"
and "Please choose 'Switch Tool' or Cancel. Then the window never goes
away. I have to manually shut down the application or re-boot the machine.
Can someone tell me what to do to fix this issue? Thank you. Regards,

What is your firewall?

My development machine is my laptop. I have a hardware firewall (router) which
for this purpose is irrelevant. I am running Norton Internet Security 2005
with a personal firewall on my machine. Is this what you are referring to?

Yes. Disable Norton's firewall. You don't need it.

That's what is always testing 'busy'.

Oh, great news. I was troubled by the system's response with this error. I
recently installed some software from a British developer magazine discussing
Dreamweaver, ColdFusion, Flash, and Fireworks and installed some of the
extensions included on the CD. Immediately Norton screamed "FOUND
TROJAN" and it informed me that it deleted it. However, my system was
bogged down with exteraneous processing, so I did an internet virus/trojan/worm
sweep of my system and found a Trojan.Proxy.Small.AA on my system. I had
thought this was the cause of my problems. I cannot find any info on this
trojan on Norton or the Internet, so I restored my system to an earlier date.
It seems to run better, but I still had the "Server Busy" problem
(oh, I only recently installed Norton, too). So this may be the solution to my
first problem. My second problem is installing foriegn software from
magazines. What a dumb move I'll never make again. Anyway, thanks for all the
help. Kudos to those that helped. I have always found solice in Macromedia's
community to help eachother. Thanks again.

I ran into the same problem and finally found this. It worked for me. Hope it
helps!

Solution
Restart the service to reload the World Wide Web Publishing Service and all of
its dependent components. The service can be restarted

through the Services Manager:

Open the Services Manager, and locate and select the World Wide Web Publishing
Service.
To restart the service choose Action > Restart, or right click the service and
choose Restart.
Should the Service Manager produce an error or the service fails to restart,
manually invoke the iisreset.exe:

Choose Start > Run.
Type cmd in the Open field to open the command line interface.
Navigate to the WINNT\System32 by typing "cd winnt\system32" at the C prompt.

The System32 folder can be located on the system root drive (usually C).
Type iisreset and select the enter key to restart the service.
Additional information
For additional information about this issue, please see Problems with
