Default Error on page - 11-13-2004 , 04:59 PM

Hi Group,

Just setting up a website for a colleague and I keep getting this warning
from the server.

Error on page

Line: 13
Char: 22
Error: 'undefined' is null or not an object
Code:0
URL: http://myhome.iolfree.ie/~exfish/index.html

I assume that it is on line 13 character 22, but what is 'undefined' is null
or not an object, and what would be code0.

Furthermore can anyone please tell me how to correct it, that is if it needs
to be corrected.

Thanks in advance to all those that take the time to reply.

David.

You must not use the same ID more than once on any given page.

"This site is viewed best in I.E.5 or higher
at a resolution of 800 * 600."

Does this exhonerate you from any further responsibility? Or does it mean
that you just don't care about those people?

When I maximize my viewport on my 1280x1024 screen, the right curtain only
moves just to the right of the "e" in "the", while the left one moves
offscreen.

I have to say, I think this is a very bad approach.

If you must do this timeline thing, do it on a very small image in the
middle of the page, don't nest absolutely positioned divs ("layers"), and
don't use the same ID more than once on a page.

Hi Murray,

Thanks for the constructive criticism,
Having layers with the same name was an oversight, I just copied and pasted
and forgot to rename.
That was corrected immediately.
With regard to resolution, the guy I am doing this for wanted it kept to
"normal" size ????
I suppose he believed that most of his customers would buy a computer and
use as is. You will note that I tried to get a balance between 800*600 and
1024*768. just in case there are some people who don't work in the "normal"
resolution.
You will remember that I was having trouble with the timeline back a week or
so and you couldn't access the site. It appears that the curtain image I had
in the layer was causing the problem somehow. Thus the single colour with
the nested stars.

If I remove the positions of these nested layer will this alleviate my
problem?

Thanks again Murray,

David

Resolution has very little to do with it.

No. What will alleviate the problem is to either make them fully qualified
CSS layers, or to make them relatively positioned. You'll need to study a
bit to be successful with either approach.
