Emailing files located on server from HTML link

I have created an Intranet site on our server available to all internal
computers running on our local network. What I want to do seems simple enough,
is to have a list of files on a page that we email to our customers. It would
be ideal to be able to click on the file and the site to then display a pop up
message requesting the Intranet user to type an email address to send it to.
i.e. Select a file, attaches to an email, user enters email address and it
sends.

Ive searched for scripts, etc, but everything seems complicated. Can this be
done from HTML??
