Default email links not working - 11-23-2003 , 01:08 PM

I recently noticed that email links in web pages are no longer able to activate my email programme - Outlook Express.

On checking my browser settings (IE6) - tools, internet options, programs etc... I can see that there is no option selected for my 'default email program'.

Before anyone suggests that I just need to select Outlook Express from the list of options - there are no options !!!!

Ive no idea how this has occured. Anyone know how I can remedy this?

Thanks

Roger

Thanks for the offer of help.

The problem though is with the browser not being able to find the default email program on my computer not with the link.

Thanks for the help.

Checked out both the links, but the first just directed you to 'internet options' where their should be the option of selcting Outlook Express from a list - my list is empty!

Also tried the second link but despite following instructions there is still nothing showing in the browser programs list where Outllook should be.

Im using windows XP Home edition if that helps

Thanks

Roger

Roger:

What is your email client on WXPHome? And are you saying that when you use
TOOLS | Internet Options > Programs that you have *no* options listed under
the E-mail dropdown?

I have no idea. On my WXPPro installation, when I go to TOOLS | Internet
Options > Programs, I see a full load of options under E-mail, even though
this particular computer has never had an email client installed.

This, of course, is one of the reasons why it is not a good idea to include email links in your web pages.
