Default Editing someone else's website, cont'd - 07-12-2004 , 08:58 AM

I gained access to their website, however, the only file that shows up in the
remote view is named / .... there is no www, etc. When I connect and "get" the
files, that's still the only folder that shows up, with nothing in it. Am I
doing something wrong?

Must be. If that's all you see, then you are not looking at the root folder
of the site.

okay- could you try this?

open the site definition again.
click the Advanced tab at top so you can find this quicker.

click the remote info tab.

Find the "Host Directory" box.

put just / a single slash in the Host Directory box.

/

connect again.
What folder names do you see?

(my guess on this try- the directory setup with ftp is one that's often used
with "RAQ" linux web appliances, and your default login directory is about
three subfolders down. Putting / in the host directory box moves you up to
the FTP root, where you should see a folder named www or httpdocs or
public_html or similar, which is where the site files are)

I tried that, and to no avail. This is the message I am getting in the FTP log:

230 User mark logged in.
SYST
215 Windows_NT version 5.0
CWD /_mm
550 /_mm: The system cannot find the file specified.
CWD /_notes
550 /_notes: The system cannot find the file specified.
MKD /XYIZNWSK
550 /XYIZNWSK: Access is denied.
RMD /XYIZNWSK
550 /XYIZNWSK: Access is denied.
RMD /xyiznwsk
550 /xyiznwsk: Access is denied.
PWD
257 "/" is current directory.
TYPE A
200 Type set to A.
PORT 10,3,21,37,16,208
200 PORT command successful.
LIST
150 Opening ASCII mode data connection for /bin/ls.
226 Transfer complete.
NOOP
200 NOOP command successful.

So, I'm assuming that they are going to have to grant me some sort of access
to it.

Either your login information is incorrect, or you do not have the proper
permissions.
