Default Ecomm Software?? - 07-17-2003 , 08:09 AM

Hello

I have been asked to pull together a recommendation of several off the shelf
e-comm packages that offer the following features:
Database Driven
Catelogue Style Display (customisable design)
CMS to control product information (Name, image, description, price, etc)
CMS should be able to control other parts of the site - non e-commerce parts
of the site, e.g. about us, etc.
Basic Stock Control - e.g. instock, out of stock, limited stock
Order tracking - order received, order approved, order sent.
Customer Email Notification of order tracking process
Credit Card Payment

Preferabley written in Java and based in the UK (or at least have UK time
support)

I have been going through the google / reading all the sales blurb method
and they all promise everything , but I was wondering if any of you guys
have any experience with an e-comm package and would recommend it

Thank you for you help

Callum

Hi Callum:

I will recommend YourVirtualStore - it is an asp solution though.

Has all the requirements you asked for and more.
http://www.yourvirtualstore.net/yvsa4.asp

This can be used straight out of the box, however, can be adapted to suit
any website design with a little bit of work. DWMX compatible.

The best feature of this package is that it comes with a content management
system, where you can add extra menu items to the nav bar with relevant
pages on the
fly. This is what you asked about. Once the files have been uploaded to
the server, all management can be carried out via the admin panel using ie
browser. You can of course work with it locally as well.

Can accept credit card payments manually or plug in a payment gateway.
There is a a free download available from the site.

The developer is UK based so the support times would suit you - though it
seems Cam is online 24 / 7.
If you are interested, you may want to take up the offer in my sig
(unashamed plug - ignore if you want to though

Hope this helps.

Nadia

Hi Callum,

WebAssist has a series of commercial extensions for Dreamweaver that will
allow you to easily build an eCommerce site. When combined with each other,
they are a very attractive suite of eCommerce products. The extensions all
support dynamic content (databases) and work with ASP JavaScript, VBScript,
and ColdFusion.

For more information about the products and how they work together, check
out http://www.webassist.com/Products/Dreams/

Hope this helps,

There's a good list of available e-comm apps listed at

http://www.dwfaq.com/Resources/e-Commerce/default.asp

You should find what you are looking for there.
