DW8 - Contribute Compatibility Error on Upload

When I upload/lock a file, I am getting this error:
"The file required for Contribute compatibility does not exist on the
server. Would you like to turn off Contribute compatibility?"

Why? I never saw this in the previous version of DW. I use Contribute on
my site and I need DW to work with it. So I can't turn off the
compatibility. If I do, then I could overwrite somebody's changes if I open
a file while they are editing it.

I´m experiencing the exact same issues - on three different PC´s (win
XP Pro SP2) with DW8 and C3.11 (Studio). I have tried to put files to
different websites to different servers from different ADSL-connections
- still get this error on all three machines. Everything else works
fine - except from Contribute compatibility. Tried enabling/disabling
the C compatibility, tried deleting the _mm folder and make a new from
Contribute. Tried to administer in Contribute. I can see the files in
C, but if I try editing them it tells me there is a problem - either
because the files does not exist og there is a permission
problem.....and everytime I try to put a file it tells me:
"The file required for Contribute compatibility does not exist on the
server. Would you like to turn off Contribute compatibility?" And I
have to answer no everytime I put anything on the server.....

Please MM people - give us som answers here. I have waited for answarer
both in this forum and from your support - no answers at all. No
suggestions. Is this a general issue, a bug or a simple error that can
be solved easely? It seems we are quite a few experiencing this problem
right now.

I finally solved these problems.

1. The issue with no connection through Contribute was due to
permissions on the webserver - as soon as I got full rights for the
folder I could connect with no problems at all.

2. The error PUTTING and GETTING files and testing and administratting
Conrtibute through DW8 was a very simple error. I had forgotten to
write the Host directory in Site Definition > Remote Info. After I
wrote the right host directory DW connected succesfully when hitting
the test-button in Site Definition > Contribute (under Advanced).
Adminstration also worked after that and so did putting and getting
files. No errors.
