Default DW4 with XP SP2 - 09-01-2004 , 12:01 AM

It was working before the XP SP2 was installed. I believe the firewall is preventing ftp access to my host. Has anyone else had issues and how did you address them?
Thanks!

simply turn off the firewall and it should be fine. another way would be to
explicitly allow dw and give it full rights to access the web

Please refer to Dreamweaver and Windows XP Service Pack 2 (TechNote
19515) for a summary of the XP SP2 issues affecting Dreamweaver users:

http://www.macromedia.com/support/dreamweaver/ts/documents/dw_xp_sp2.htm

That TechNote also references other more in-depth documents on the
Macromedia support site. Macromedia also has a general XP Service Pack 2
support center:

http://www.macromedia.com/support/service/servicepack2.html

Hope this helps,
Randy

Is there any info about using earlier versions of DW with XP SP1 or SP2?

Those are all of the official TechNotes of which I am aware. They seem
to cover DW in general (i.e. not version-specific), although version 4
is no longer supported.

Thanks,
Randy

Randy:

Do you know if DW4/UD4 runs OK in XP SP1/SP2?

Murray,

I have not tested that configuration myself or are aware of any
particular issues. I think that we would have heard of any DW4/UD4 XP
SP1 problems long before now

There are some problems with MDAC 2.8 that are still being investigated:

http://www.macromedia.com/support/dreamweaver/ts/documents/dw_xp_sp2.htm#build

MDAC 2.8 is installed with XP SP2, but has been out for awhile, so it
can also be installed on XP SP1.

HTH,
Randy

Thanks Randy! I just want to know how to respond. There have been several
posts in the last few months from UD4 users having problems with XP....
