Default DW4 Template conversion to DWMX2004 - 07-11-2004 , 11:41 AM

I had a template file in DW4. In this file was the .dwt template file and the
..swf button files. All was working fine. I have upgraded to DWMX2004 and now
the template now longer updates the other pages correctly. When I apply the
template to other pages ( the child pages), the .swf buttons are not applied
to the child page correctly (shows broken links).

I have tried moving the .swf files to the main folder and they show on the
child pages, but not the templete. When I move the .swf files back into the
Template folder, they show on the template, but then show as broken links on
the child pages.

Any suggestions?

First thing you should do is to upgrade the DW4 template to DMX level
markup - there are instructions on how to do this on my book's companion
site (tutorials) -

http://www.dreamweavermx-templates.com

Having done that, you should then upload the DWT file somewhere and post a
URI for it so I can see the code. Can you do that?

The problem was that you had them in the Templates folder to begin with. If
you move them out of the Templates folder, then re-create the links to them
in the template, it will then update the child pages correctly.

Golden Rules of Templates:

1. Put NOTHING in the Templates folder except the actual .dwt template
files.

2. NEVER move or rename the Templates folder. It must be named exactly
Templates and must be located at the root level of your defined local site.
