Default DW & FP Crossover - 07-10-2003 , 02:04 PM

Just switched from FrontPage (please, no rotten eggs) - but one function I
really enjoyed from FP was the Shared Borders - allowing me to define a menu
layout once and it automatically was a part of every page on the site.

Is there a way to do something/anything similar for DW? I really dread
going page-by-page on a 100+ page site to cut/paste - but in all the
documentation and quick(blindingly quick) browsing of this forum and others
I have not seen a reference for this.

Any assistance is appreciated.

Tedious? - ugh.

But, (new to DW remember) will this mean that if I update the 'template' it
will auto update that info on all these pages?

The best way to do this in DW would be to build a Template with the common
page elements, and then one by one spawn new child pages and copy and
paste
from the exiting pages into the new child pages. Then save the child
pages
over the existing pages and you're done. Tedious? Yes. Worth the
effort?
Yes.

Or you could create a menu and turn that into a ssi (serverside include... I
bet a +100 page website is using some kind of programing langauge)

You could try this very easy tutorial (asp)
