Default DW adding backslashes to links - 11-13-2004 , 11:03 PM

I can be sat here, looking at a link in all its simple loveliness ..

src="colour.htm"

Then I select Save all and magically it changes to the ugly and problem
causing,

src="/colour.htm"

right before my very tired and dissbelieving eyes.

This breaks F12 naturally and any other viewing in a browser because it
can't find the link. I'ma ssuming this could be some kind of root
relative link thats defaulting somehow but I don't know how to turn it
off. I've tried deleting the site map, fixing the links in notepad,
recreating the site map and .. initially all seems well, but do a few
changes and suddenly its back the way it was.

HELP!

Thanks,
Paddy

It's using the Root-Relative path. You pretty much have to use a
root-relative or page relative path unless you are typing the entire path.

So, why is "/colour.htm" not right? If your domain is www.mydomain.com, and
you are linking to a page found at www.mydomain.com/colour.htm then what DW
is doing is correct with the "/colour".

The only other thing you can do, that I can think of is type the full path
in the link box. If you type http://www.mydomain.com/images/colour.htm, for
instance, DW will go exactly there... this way, you're not asking DW to open
a link that's relative to the site it's contained in.

Hope that helps!
