Default Driving Me Mad! - 08-04-2004 , 06:15 PM

Hey,

Thanks for viewing my post.

I recently purchased Dreamweaver and I was impressed with it until now, my
view of Dreamweaver began to drop.

One of the main things is that on my index page I have the text as Edwardian
Script ITC in Dreamweaver but when people view this page, the text is displayed
in plain writing i.e. Times New Roman which isn't what I want.

Also I cannot get Some of my images to center on my page? Any ideas or help
would be greatly appreciated.

Thanking you in advance for your reply.

Dazzy.

That's how HTML works. Dreamweaver has nothing to do with it.

There is still no practical way to do this since there is not a
cross-browser/platform reliable way. Microsoft has WEFT, but it's IE only.
Netscape uses Bitstream, but it's Netscape only. Then there are copyright
and bandwidth issues. It's best to forget about it and just use websafe
fonts.

Again, you are stepping across the boundary of your understanding of HTML.
No matter what anyone implies, you will struggle with any authoring system
if you do not understand some HTML.

You can center images by putting them into a positionable container, like a
table, or a division.

But for heavens sakes - get a book....

Your type font problem has nothing to do with Dreamweaver. In order to view
a font on a web page the user has to have it installed on their
computer....unless you do it as a graphic. Since I don't have Edwardian
script, I'll end up seeing it in the default font specified in my browser,
which more often than not is Times Roman. Stick to the fonts shown in the DW
Property Inspector and you should be safe, especially since they have second
and third choices listed. And if you really need a font like Edwardian, use
a graphic.

Hey Guys.

Thank you both very much for your rapid reply. Never have I ever experienced
such a fast reply.

Dreamweaver is an excellent tool and I was foolish to think that it was the
cause of my problem.

Once again thank you very very much.

Yours Faithfully,
Dazzy.
