Default Dreamweaver8 to CS4 - 12-19-2008 , 07:42 AM

HI All,

About a year and a half ago, I bought Dreamweaver 8. It wasn't until recently
that I figured out what type of website I wanted to created, I don't know if
Dreamweaver8 can handle it.

I wanted to create a site that allows visitors to log in, enter data and allow
other visitors to log in and search for that data. For example, if I wanted to
build a garage in the back of my house, I can go to this site, log in and check
a box that reads "Building a Garage" I can then check other boxes that apply to
what my needs are. For example, i will need a carpenter so I would check the
box labeled "Carpenter", also "Roofer", "Cement Layer", and so on.

Then, a cement layer would be able log in and search for cement layer projects
by checking the box labeled "Cement layer" and all the projects that require a
cement layer would come up.

Is this possible with Dreamweaver 8? or CS4? If yes, where do I start reading,
viewing, inquiring, buying, training and/or hiring?

Advance thankyous,
Zee

Yes, it's possible with DW8. But it will not be possible with any version
of DW if you do not have some knowledge of and experience with using
databases, and server scripting.

How comfortable are you with HTML/CSS? And what scripting languages do you
know? Which ones are supported by your current/intended host?

Thanks Murray,

Yes, I am comfortable with HTML/CSS, however, I only had one class, about a
year and a half ago but I still have the book!

My host recognizes PHP and Cold Fusion.

Is there any hope?

If I can be pointed in the right direction I think I can move along even if
it's at a snail's pace. Also, if you can let me know of any video tutorials
that you may be aware of, that best pertains to my scenario, it would be
greatly appreciated.

Thanks again!
Zee

I can't disagree with Alan's recommendation, though....
