Default Dreamweaver Will Not Start on my Mac - 11-26-2004 , 12:45 PM

I had Dreamweaver installed on my powerbook...it worked. I stopped using it
for about 2 months. I tried to start it up and now I just get a spinning beach
ball and then it crashes. So then I go and delete the prefs...same result.
I download the trial version...same result. I do the updater thing....it
hangs. I create a new account on my powerbook...and dreamweaver starts fine.
Can someone give me a clue and tell me what in my account is fouling this up.
Thanks in advance, Jason

What's wrong with that?

And another thing, is your name Jane or Jason? No wonder your accounts are
screwed up

Occasionally, DW puts a couple of system files in wrong places on Mac
OSX. To bring them over to where they belong, run this hotfix from
Macromedia:
http://www.macromedia.com/support/service/ts/documents/mac_archive_install.htm

Then update to 7.0.1:

Well ... I really do not want to have to switch to a ghost account just so I
can use Dreamweaver. I also followed exactly what was said to do. I still get
the spinning ball followed by a crash. Man -- I am frustrated. Anyone have
any ideas...??? Thanks in advance...I appreciate it. Jason

Open the Extension Manager and disable (or even remove) all extensions
and see if that helps. It's not rare that extensions get corrupted or if
you have installed one that's not made for your DW version.

If that doesn't help, it's likely a system thing and not a DW thing. Are
your fonts OK? Corrupted or fonts that aren't 100% compatible with OSX
are always causing weird and "unrelated" problems. Run permissions,
re-prebinding, cronscripts. If you have DiskWarrior, run it.

If problems prevail, delete every DW file (make a search) and re-install.

Hi

I think it might help if you just call yourself Jane and just get on with
it.

Cheers

Wow did not realize some people have such time to devote to lame jokes.
Anyway...back to my problem. I tend to believe that it is something specific
to something in my configuration within the user account I typically use. I
just cannot determine what it is. I do not know of any font changes i have
made...so I have ruled this out. I really would like to start using
dreamweaver again:-<
