Default Dreamweaver vs search engines - 11-07-2004 , 12:56 AM

Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

I have been given an opportunity for long-term work if I get this right so I
really don't want to miss anything....

My role is to optimise a just completed web site to get the best search engine
listing in Google & Yahoo. A few years ago I had a web design business and
created several sites (eg: www.danum.com.au) which look pretty hokey now, but
actually listed quite highly in search engines.

I designed these sites using the old Adobe Imagestyler for graphics and then
exported them into Dreamweaver. Self-taught, I used tables, sometimes frames,
the "properties box" for links and a little work on the source code and managed
to get through... but never bothered with libraries, templates or other
"complicated" features.

The problem I have now is - the site I need to optimise has a large library
item at the top of the page. I can open the library item and change it back
into the (flat) format I recognise, but is this necessary?

Are search engines influenced by Dreamweaver library items or do they read
them them the same as "basic" html?

My apologies in advance if this is a really stupid question, but this site has
been given to me as a test prototype and I really want to do well!

Thanks!

Library items are a design time tool only and have no impact on search
engines.
