dreamweaver static pages into shopping cart

I have a client who has created a ton of pages in adobe golive, but he's
reached his ceiling of knowledge. The code isn't great in the background and
there are some other problems with the site. So I'm going to redesign a look
and feel for him in MX.

He wants to turn the site into an e commerce site.
He's created about 100 plus product pages, that currently are static.
There's a product image on one page, with a detailed description etc. Since
he's already done a great deal of leg work on these product pages, is there
a simple way to add existing pages into a shopping cart. I'm going to
outsource the programming to someone else, since I don't pretend to be a
programmer. But the ones I have spoken to talk about having designed their
own shopping cart system, or suggest using soemthing like YVS or Miva
merchant.

What I want to know is can I just add a shopping cart element to his
existing pages, or am I missing something?
