Dreamweaver not working right?

I have been using dreamweaver for a few months now and have had no trouble with
the program till this afternoon. I turned on my computer and started to work on
my site. Saved my work and went to view in browser came up with an error saying
an unexpected "$" in line number__. I looked at the code and there was no $
only the </html> tag. Using FTP pro I went to the server and check the file and
there was no $ there either. Everything I write and save this afternoon is
giving me the same error. The PHP syntax is not hi-lighting and PHP even
disappeared from the menu of menu bars on the code page.

Boy do I feel dumb!!!! There is nothing wrong with the program after I asked
for help I start to go over my code line by line for the umpteenth time. This
time I found a couple of hundred line in a bracket that should have been in a
php tag but was not this left an if statement open. Sorry for the mix up. I
should have known better because it has been years, but I use to code in c++.
