Default Dreamweaver Newbie - 08-13-2008 , 03:22 PM

I am new to Dreamweaver and have been building a school district website from
the sample pages Dreamweaver provides. I took the beginning class and have read
up on how to navigate around Dreamweaver. However, I am having a lot of
difficulty making the finished product look professional -- for example, the
spry menu bar isn't spread out like most menu bars are, the pages seem to run
into internet space when testing them, etc.. Are there places I can send my
pages where someone can review what I've done and tell me what I'm doing wrong
and explain why the page isn't flowing as smoothly as more professional sites
do?

Ok. First off, Spry is unfortunately not for new users. It does require that
you do have some HTML + CSS knowledge to work and edit. If you post your code
or a link to the page I could probably point some things out.

First thing to do is get your feet wet and learn HTML and CSS. A good place
to start is http://www.w3schools.com/ .

Next once you have done that the next place you should go to once you get the
page ready is to put the website address of the document into the following
site:

http://validator.w3.org/

You should try to get your pages to validate through that page. It will tell
you what needs to be fixed. The more your page validates the better it will
start to look.

Lastly, as previously mentioned, you can post your code or a link to your page
here and people will try to help you out getting your pages to look good,
however, if you do not read those tutorials first some of it may be foreign to
you.
