Default Dreamweaver navigation - 11-29-2004 , 11:15 AM

Have had some experience of website maintenance using FrontPage but am new to
Dreamweaver and am not yet really experienced in website design.
Am redesigning our site using Dreamweaver. Wish to set up a Navigation bar
using popup menus. Have read that there are two disadvantages to using the
built in DM features for this:
1. speed
2. search engine crawlers cannot index pages hyperlinked to popups as the url
is hidden from them.
Is this correct?
Also, can anyone comment on the advantages/disadvantages of using Project
Seven's Tree Menu Magic or MenuMagic I or II? and if the above disadvantages
apply, would these products overcome them?
Would value anyone's advice.

As far as this list goes, yes. But there are more disadvantages discussed
here -

None of the listed disadvantages would apply to the use of those commercial
products, or even to the use of their free extensions to create such menus.
It's really very easy, and while those products are definitely da bomb, they
are not required to make excellent menus.

Hi Murray,
Thanks. Had already read apptools advice - that's what put me on to Project Seven.
Value your advice. May well think of purchasing one of their menu systems.
Regards
Brian
