Dreamweaver FTP will not connect

Dreamweaver 8
Mac OSX (10.4.2)

When I try to connect to the remote web site by clicking the
connect/disconnect plug, I get the warning "Before using this feature, you must
define a remote server. Would you like to define one now?"

I have already defined a remote site, but to humour the software I click
"yes." This take me to the Advanced Site Definition screen, in the Remote Info
section which has all the correct settings --

Access: FTP
FTP Host, Host Directory, Login and Password a re all correctly filled out and
I am using passive FTP.
When I click the "test" buttonI get the "Dreamweaver connected to you web
server successfully" but still the dreamweaver FTP tool continues to tell me I
need to define a remote site.

Anyone come across this?
