Default Dreamweaver FTP - 11-28-2007 , 01:00 PM

I am unable to see local files in the left pane when connecting to a remote
host. I see the remote files in the right pane, but cannot find a way to show
the local files in the left pane. What am I doing wrong???

do you have the local folder set up in your site definitions?

go to Site, click on Manage Sites, then select your site. click the
"advanced" tab if it's not already selected, and make sure that you have
your local folder in the box next to "Local root folder."

Sorry, I forgot to mention I'm using Dreamweaver CS3 and in the "Sites/Manage
Sites/my site" there are no tabs, only buttons, and there is no advanced
button so I still am unable to see local files in the left pane.

hmm...well, in that case i suggest you look at your help files and how
to set up a site. i doubt it's much different in CS3, so just click on
Help in the top menu and select "Getting Started with Dreamweaver."

This means that you have not properly defined your site as "Site". Instead
you have defined it as "FTP & RDS Server" which eliminates the local site,
and allows you to edit the live files on the server. Thus - there ARE no
local files.

The solution is to create a NEW site definition - SITE | New > SITE (not FTP
& RDS Server) and enter your FTP information as needed. Then delete the
previous site.

Now you will see both local and remote files (after you first connect to the
remote site and GET all the files up there).

Hi, I have found the place in "site manager" where the "local root folder" is
entered and I entered it. However, it still will not display the folder in the
left pane, I only see the "Welcome" screen.

Hi, Thanks much...that fixed my problem. I think the problem was that I was
confused by setting up a remote site inside the local site setup. Instead, I
had set up 2 sites, one local and one remote. Thanks Again!
