Research has indicated that there was a Dreamweaver bug (and update fix) in version 8 whereby the listing of MySQL tables was empty if the database name contained a non alphnumeric character. I seem to be faced with this problem in CS3 (v9). Can someone confirm or deny that this bug exists in this version ? |

The illusion of this bug is created when you don't have the database name correct in the "Testing Server" parameters! .... And I would of course like to blame my ISP for adding a prefix to the database name I used on creation and generating the confusion in the first place !!! <g -- Ronnie MacGregor Scotland Ronnie at dBASEdeveloper dot co dot uk www.dBASEdeveloper.co.uk |

I've documented what I've discovered in the course of doing this. Since you seem to have a rather large presence here <g>, maybe you could cast your expert eye over the result and let me know if there are any glaring errors/ommissions. * I would fill in the default images folder |
* I would just put 'http://www.example.com' in the HTTP address field. Or even leave it blank. (I would always use 'example.com' since that's exactly the purpose it was created for) |
* the FTP host may not be 'ftp.xxxx.xxx', it might also be 'www.xxxx.xxx', depending on the host * the FTP login is not always 'MySiteName.com' - it might be 'monkeybutt', too. This would depend on the host. |
* I never use the FTP connection option for my Testing server. My testing server is a local *nix box. |
But, given the constraints mentioned above, your information looks accurate. |
* you cast the blame on DW for appending the /public_html/ folder to the URL prefix, when actually that is your problem. That folder should not be included in the HTTP address field at all, which is a field that you fill out. |
The rest seems OK. And with these modifications, you have a workable tutorial.... |

| www.example.com was created expressly for this purpose. |
