Dreamweaver cs3

I have created a template by saving the index page (including a navbar) as a
template. The index page navbar works fine, I can also open the template in
firefox and the navbar works OK but when I create a new page based on the
template, it breaks the navigation. The navbar images are still links but the
rollovers don't work. The code looks the same except the image preload links
are changed to absolute paths.

Any ideas about what might be going on?

What procedure are you using to produce a new page from the template

New>Page from template>Select site folder>choose template from site folder?

Are you then saving the new page to the site folder?
