Dreamweaver crashing

Hi

I am running Dreamweaver MX on a Windows98 computer.
I am currently trying to create html pages using CSS.
Whenever I try to insert a navigation bar into the current page I am
working on, Dreamweaver crashes and I get this prompt:

When you find dreamweaver.exe in the Program Files/Macromedia/Dreamweaver MX
folder, right click on it, and select Properties, and then Version, what
version number do you see?

By the way, one other thing to do - when you check System Resources -

System Resources is what you see when you do

START | Settings > Control Panel > System > Performance Tab

- what value do you see?

I have a suspician that spyware and/or trojans or something might
contribute to the problem of Dreamweaver crashing. Other programs
have crashed too with a similiar "stack dump problem" such as

Nope. Find dreamweaver.exe in C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Dreamweaver MX\
(assuming you have installed to the default location). Right click on
dreamweaver.exe, and select PROPERTIES | Version. There, you will see the
version number. For Dreamweaver MX, this number will look like 6.x.xxxx. I
need to know what those unspecified values are.

But this is a way of life with W98. Sorry, but that operating system is
completely inadequate for contemporary applications. Is there any
possibility of upgrading to WXP?

Now my computer has been running a while and it went down to 52%.

Yes, that's one of the problems with W98. And after a while longer, it'll
go down to 38%, and then you crash with a kernel32 error, just the way you
have reported.

Not only is your operating system badly outdated, but your hardware is, too.
128MB RAM is really below the ragged edge for Dreamweaver.

I wish I could help you, but if you are serious about developing web pages,
you really must upgrade your hardware....

Okay, there is a box that says "other version info"
According to that box I have Product Version 7.0.2052

Okay, how about this? I have a hp Pavilion notebook computer
WinXP
AMD Athlon XP-M Processor 2500 + 1.87 GHZ
40 GB Hard Drive
256 MB Memory (an additional 256 MB was installed when I
agreed to sign up for a warranty)
DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive but no floppy A drive

I have Dreamweaver installed in both computers. My problem is that
most of my "beloved data" exists on my Win 98 computer including
graphics, web pages and other files important to me.

My Win98 computer has a CD-ROM burner and I would like to burn my
personal files onto a CD.

The problem is that Dreamweaver has installed a spyware called Cidilla
into both machines so that my CD-burner won't work. Do you have any
idea how I can circumvent/solve this problem? Once I had Webroot's
Spy Sweeper "kill cidilla" & to my dismay, that killed Dreamweaver MX
as well. I had to uninstall it & re-install.

How can I get my CD-RW from my Win98 computer to work so that I can
copy my own personal data & files onto a CD-ROM so that I can transfer
that info to my newer notebook computer and work from there?
Sure it's time for my Win98 to retire, but I am lost if I can't
transfer my data to a CD.
I have no intention of copying Dreamweaver programs or any
intellectual property other than my own. Any suggestions?

morning, and it said 74% free.

Can Dreamweaver work on the Win98 (Desktop) machine? In another post
I described my WinXP notebook. I'd like to put some of my files on a

My Win98 still works and is good for some things. Should I uninstall
Dreamweaver MX from the Win98 or is there a way it still can work?
I like working from my desktop set-up. I would like to continue using
Dreamweaver MX on my desktop computer if that is possible.
Since most of my personal files exist on the Win98 machine, I would
like a convenient way to transfer my personal files to my WinXP
notebook. I think the most efficient way to transfer the files is to
put them on a CD ROM but what should I do now that I know my access to
my CD-RW capabilities in both machines has been blocked by
Macromedia's surreptitious insertion of Cidilla into every $500
Dreamweaver MX software program they sell?

A few points- first, the product activation framework with MX 2004 should NOT
interfere with your CD-RW's proper operation, this concern has largely
circulated due to related problems in *earlier versions* of Macrovision copy
protection used with Intuit's TurboTax a year or two back. I've yet to hear of
a single confirmed report of CD-RWs not working based on DWMX 2004's activation
framework- and have never seen this happen in the dozens of CD-RW-equipped
machines I've installed DWMX 2004 upon. I highly doubt DWMX 2004 is your
problem in that respect. If you feel otherwise, please open a support ticket
at the following URL to have a tech rep step through the situation with you:

Secondly - and more directly, 128mb RAM is the *bare minimum* you can use DWMX
2004 with- particularly under Win98, where resource allocation is rather dodgy.
Not to say it can't work, but I'd strongly recommend adding another 128mb of
RAM (bringing you up to 256, the recommended level) to cut down on spurious
crashes. Win98 is not very forgiving in low-memory situations- crashes such as
this with similar hardware/OS/memory configurations are somewhat expected.

I'd like to ask you: have you heard of Cidilla? I don't have Turbo
Tax or Quicken on my computer. The Cidilla detected by Webroot's Spy
Sweeper seemed to correlate with DWMX because the time I chose to
"kill Cidilla" DWMX zonked out as well. Webroot's information said
that Cidilla prevented the act of burning a CD ROM.
