Hi, I'm having a problem with Dreamweaver crashing when closing files. Version: Dreamweaver 8 (as part of Studio 8) OS: Windows XP Pro SP2 Extensions installed: None Description of problem: When closing an open file using File > Close, Dreamweaver 8 reports the following error and then closes. "While executing DWMenu_File_Close command in menus.xml, the following JavaScript error(s) occurred: Exception thrown in native function." And when closing an open file using the "X" in the upper right corner of the file, Dreamweaver 8 reports an unexpected error with the following details, and then closes. "AppName: dreamweaver.exe AppVer: 8.0.0.2734 ModName: mfc71u.dll" "ModVer: 7.10.3077.0 Offset: 00034a2d" Occurrence: 1. Every time I close a file 2. In all sites defined in Dreamweaver 3. Whether there is one file open or many files open 4. Whether Dreamweaver is the only application running or one of several applications in use Attempted fixes so far (none solved the problem): 1. Used installation CD to repair Dreamweaver 2. Deleted all .tmp files in C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Macromedia\Dreamweaver 8\Configuration\Temp 3. Renamed (and later deleted) C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Macromedia\Dreamweaver 8\Configuration Thanks for any advice you can offer! Cam |

I just had the same error on a Windows box. Dreamweaver does a terrible job of "closing". It takes forever and usually I need to ALT-CTRL-DEL and use the task manager to finally get it to close down. |
My error occured when Dreamweaver couldn't find the Template file associated witht the page when I tried to update it. Ultimately, Dreamweaver crashed after showing the errors that you mention. |
They both crash with these softwares. |

I just had the same error on a Windows box. Dreamweaver does a terrible job of "closing". It takes forever and usually I need to ALT-CTRL-DEL and use the task manager to finally get it to close down. With the error you describe, were you working with any templated files? My error occured when Dreamweaver couldn't find the Template file associated witht the page when I tried to update it. Ultimately, Dreamweaver crashed after showing the errors that you mention. Does anyone else notice how Dreamweaver and Flash both crash unexpectedly with little warning and no explanation? I have two different boxes, one is a Pentium 4, and the other is a Pentium M. They both crash with these softwares. |

Hi Murray, RE: Did it always behave this way, or is it a recent occurrence? It began several days after installing and using Dreamweaver 8 (a clean install). I did not experience this error with earlier versions. Thanks, Cam |

This usually means that your local site is actually on a remote network shared drive. Is that the case with you? For what it's worth, I do not see |
There is somethign systemically wrong with your sites, if you have this problem. |
Others do not experience these crashes. What is the difference? I dunno.... |
