Dreamweaver crashes on "put" (FTP) "Read Only MemoryException" instruction="4589068b"

Hello everyone,

I have a problem related to Dreamweaver CS3 running on Mac OS X 10.5.6 (Darwin
9.6.0 kernel) and the commands "get" and more particularly "put":
- when I try to upload a file to the remote server with the command "put",
Dreamweaver crashes after "retrieving information from remote server", when it
says "complete" even though nothing happened:
I see then the crash report that states a "read only memory exception":

- when I try to download a file from the remote server with the command "get":
it doesn't crash after it says "complete" but the file isn't downloaded.

* for the site definition: I use "ftp" to connect to the remote server:
when I "test" the connection: it works. I can even connect and see the remote
server files. But somehow the commands "get" or "put" don't work.

* I have tested with other tools to upload my files with "ftp" and it works.
So it doesn't seem to be a problem with the remote server.

* I have tried the following but I didn't manage to succeed to troubleshoot
the problem:
- recreate the site definition
- remove the site prefs
- remove dws file
- update MAC OS with upgrade
- re-install CS3
- uninstall and re-install CS3
- uninstall, remove manually the remaining files/folder, and re-install CS3
NB: I tried to "deactivate" CS3 before "uninstall" but I didn't manage, it was
not allowed.

It used to work fine for almost a year, until that strange bug appear this
week.

If anyone would have any hints, I would really appreciate it,

I am having a very similar problem with Dreamweaver 8 running on OS X10.4.11.

If I choose passive FTP, Dreamweaver appears to upload a file, when in fact
the error logs reports that the file could not be upload because it was not
found, or because of permission problems.

If I do not upload with passive FTP , Dreamweaver 8 crashes & Dreamweaver 8
loses the site's root folder, informing me that it cannot be found and I must
use the manage sites feature to recreate the cache for the site that was there.

If I use FETCH, no problem... all files are uploaded successfully.

I recently had a hard drive failure on my Mac, had a new HD installed by the
folks at the Genius Bar, and thought perhaps my new HD was buggy... however,
now it seems there must a a permissions problem built into the Dreamweaver FTP
protocols.

I have not seen a patch for this, although when I reinstalled the software, I
did download all updates.

I know my reply offers no solutions, but I do thank you for your post.

The Hard Drive has a new name (I did not realize it would matter at
the time) and I do not know how t rename it. If you could offer some
advice there that would be great.
I believe I have the Exact Username as I did before.

I have have tried opening a site definition for editing, and using the
Browse button next to the Local Site Folder line in local info to
pick the correct
folder. Dreamweaver 8 will allow me to select that folder & will
rebuild the site cache giving a message that this is necessary as
preferences have changed.

public_html Is entered in the "host directory" line of the remote
server info as this is the specific folder on the server where files
are stored.

I do connect to the remote server. Displayed in the remote view first
is the public_html folder and all appropriate files.

*This may not be relevant, however my Dreamweaver 8 is part of the
most excellent Studio 8 package.
