Default Dreamweaver 8 vs. DWMX 7.0.1 timestamp issue - 09-27-2005 , 01:11 PM

Hi All,

I just started using Dreamweaver 8, and I really like the improvements
Macromedia has made to the interface as well as the speed of putting files onto
a remote site via FTP or LAN connection. However, I wonder if anyone knows if
there is a difference between the way DW 8 puts files vs. MX (7.0.1)? I'm
using the Fusebox 4.1 development methodology, which uses timestamps to
determine whether or not it should look for new copies of the files.

When I use DWMX to put the files, I have virtually no problems with synch.
When I use DW 8, I'm getting problems seeing changes made to display elements.

I posted this on the Fusebox forums and the users suggested that the time on
my workstation might be different than that of my development server. No dice.
They're synched to the second, if not the millisecond. It's extremely
frustrating, because I'd much rather be using Dreamweaver 8!

Does anyone know of a setting in the preferences I can change to make 8 behave
more like 7.0.1 in this manner? Is it the "transfer files in background"
feature that might be the cause of this issue?

Thanks in advance!!

Cheers,

-m

Yes - this has been changed. DW8 no longer synchs the timestamps.

I'm afraid not.

If you want to pursue this directly with Macromedia, you could use one of
your support incidents to do so.

I'm seeing the exact same thing. I put a file to a server on the network and
its not updating in the browser. The file is changed on the server but its not
reflected in the browser.

In DMX 7 I am not seeing this happen.

Anyone else having this problem? Any word on if its being looked at by
Macromedia?

Thanks!

Hey ajy,

Are you using Fusebox 4 by any chance? You might want to check out this
thread on the fusebox.org site:

http://www.fusebox.org/forums/messageview.cfm?catid=27&threadid=5084

It seems like I'm either doing something very wrong or this was somewhat of an
oversight on MM's part with DW8. I'd just like to know how I can use DW8
without this happening!

Cheers,

-m

nope no fusebox

this is exactly what the problem is

http://www.macromedia.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=a3f38dcf#timestamp

I sure hope they get it fixed soon. I have had to go back to DMX 7 ...I love
8 from what I can tell I just hate these products released with bugs like this.

I am not upgrading the rest of my team to until there is a fix.
