Default Dreamweaver 8 putting a single file confusing? - 10-14-2005 , 07:52 PM

In Dreamweaver MX when I put a single file without first saving the
changes I get a dialogue box with options:

"The file [name]has been modified. Do you wish to save the file before
putting YES, NO, CANCEL"

But in Dreamweaver 8 (trial) for a single file I get:

"The file [name]has been modified. Do you wish to save the file before
putting YES, YES TO ALL, NO, NO TO ALL, CANCEL"

Is this how Dreamweaver 8 is for everyone? I find this message confusing
and annoying. Surely it should only give me this message when I have
multiple files selected?

Thanks,

Chris (Hunt)

Yep - that's how it is for me too.

Thanks Murry, is there any chance Macromedia will change this behaviour
back to how it was in Dreamweaver MX? Dreamweaver 8 is giving less
information than Dreamweaver MX.

I doubt that anything will be done for a while.

Ok, here's a simple operation get/put question involving local/testing/remote
servers. Can someone please tell me what happens in each of these scenarios in
Dreamweaver 8:

1. File on Local Site modified and saved, then selected, then Put button
pushed. Where does the modified file go? (remote or testing server or both?)

2. File on Testing site selected, then Put button pushed. Where does file go?
(remote or local server or both?)

Also, does this behavior vary depending on how many times the Get or Put
button is pushed? I have experimented many different ways and don't seem to get
consistent outcomes.

Your input greatly appreciated!
Sara

It depends on whether you are connected to the remote or the testing server.
If the former then it goes to the Remote server. If the latter, then it
goes to the testing server.

Nowhere.

No.

Hi Murray, thanks for your response. I am connected to both testing and remote
servers all the time through the network. If I select a group of local site
files to Put using the button in the Site Window, I believe that Dreamweaver
connects to either the testing or remote server depending on whichever of these
servers I chose last using the Site Window. Could you confirm whether my
assumption is correct? Thanks again! Sara
