Dreamweaver 8 Locking up

For the second time now DW 8 has locked up when making a change to a style with
the built in CSS editing tool. When I change focus from the editor pane to the
code pain it throws a exception and then locks up the app. I am running XP pro
on a fast machine with 512 RAM. It has cost me over 45 minutes of work now with
the 2 occurences. Has anyone else had this problem and / or know of a solution?
I cannot have this problem keep recurring or for that matter having to hit save
every 5 seconds.

trying to create a duplicate style. Here is the error message: "While executing
DWContect_CSStyle_Duplicate command in menus.xml, the following JavaScript
error(s) occured: exception thrown in native format". Is anyone else having
this problem?

What extensions have you installed? Do you get this error on all sites or
only specific ones?

I do not have any extensions installed. I am currently working from th etrial
version while I await the delivery of the full version. I am running it for two
sites but am only using the style editor in one of the sites.

You can try this simple fix -

Quit DW.

Find this folder -

C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Macromedia\Dreamweaver
8\Configuration
(these folders are normally hidden - you may have to use Explorer > Tools >
Folder Options to unhide them)

and rename it (say to xConfiguration).

Restart DW. Works better?

What is the purpose for doing that other than resetting the configuration files? The only change I had made to the config are that I prefer the coder view and I changed my code view font settings.

I need to understand the issue since I will have 3 other developers on this platform with me as well and we cannot afford to have these types of issues.

That's what it is doing in addition to dumping the site caches - this seems
to be something that happens alot (corrupted site caches)....
