Default Dramwever 8 and Image editor - 11-09-2005 , 02:35 AM

Dreamweaver 8 launches Fireworks MX 2004 instead of Fireworks 8. Changing the
preference in Dreamwever did not fix the problem. Removing Fireworks mX 2004
did not solve the proble either as Dreamwever 8 is now attempting to locate
Fireworks MX 2004 which is no longer in the hard drive. Any suggestions on how
to fix this problem? Thanks:confused;

MM response

Edit in Fireworks launches Fireworks MX 2004 instead of Fireworks 8
topic update: September 16, 2005
Issue

After selecting an image and clicking on the Fireworks icon in the Properties
panel to edit the image in Fireworks, Fireworks MX 2004 (or other previously
installed version) launches instead of Fireworks 8. (Ref. 196137)
Solution

In the Preference for File Types/Editors (Edit menu > Preferences, select File
Types/Editors), perform the following steps:

* Remove any Editors for file types that are associated with Fireworks by
selecting the editor and pressing the minus button.
* Add back an editor pointing to the Fireworks executable (Fireworks.exe)
for Fireworks 8.
o Fireworks.exe is located in Program Files > Macromedia > Fireworks
8, unless installed to a non-default location.

Thank you but as I had already indicated in my original message I had followed
exactly those instructions but did not work. That is why I decided to remove
Fireworks MX 2004 from my hard drive and Dreamwever still does not launch
Fireworks 8.

If that fails to solve the problem, then I recommend you contact Macromedia
directly and use one of your one-on-one support incidents.

The instructions provided by Macromedia at:

http://www.macromedia.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=a3f38dcf#fw_edit

do not fix the problem as Dreamweaver 8 appears not to recognize Fireworks 8.
I will wait to hear from Macromedia.
