Default dot mac & DREAMWEAVER - 11-14-2005 , 12:05 PM

I would like to edit or maybe link my "dot mac" account to dreamweaver. Is there a way this can be done?

thanks

I know Contribute can do this out of the box, but I've not been successful
connecting with Dreamweaver through the WebDAV connector within the site
definition.

What I have done that works well, however, is to mount my iDisk then use it
as a file resource from within Dreamweaver. That works well. Usually, I
use a local folder in my home folder for the Local Info settings of my site
definition, then my iDisk as the Remote Server. The Sites folder contains
all of your dotMAC web sites. That seems to have worked well for me.

Best regards,
Chris

You can't edit Homepage files easily in DW - they get screwed up!
However I use DW all the time with .Mac. Then I use Transmit (from
panic.com to upload). Yes, you can use the iDisk on the desktop, but
this way makes sure I dn't miss anything ... there is a synchronise
function

Use WebDAV in the remote pane

URL will be:

http://idisk.mac.com/username/Sites/

Use WebDAV in the remote pane?
I am sorry, But what does that mean.

would that be "the URL of your WebDav server?" when am setting up a site in
dreamweaver.

dreamweaver.

Under the Advanced Pane in Site Definition, select (on the left menu) Remote
Info.
For Access, use WebDAV.
For URL, use http://idisk.mac.com/username/Sites/
this will be your .Mac web site address.
login and password are your .Mac user/pass.

Of course, you can add other folders in the Sites folder to built other sites
if you wish.

I followed what you said, but I get this error message"
"An HTTP WebDAV error occurred. Dreamweaver cannot get a listing for the
folder you specified. make sure you have proper authorization on the server,
and the server is properly configured."

In the local info section this is what I have, maybe the problem lies there:
Site name : Yogi_Madhvacharya
Local root folder: Backup_HD:Users:Bhagirathaesktop:Yogi_Madhvachar ya:
HTTP address: http://homepage.mac.com/bhagiratha/

thank you

Ah... that's the piece I've been missing :-) Thanks for clearing that up.

I've been trying to use homepage.mac.com the whole time.

Best regards,
Chris
