DMX Check-In/Check-Out

We currently have three servers for our workflow (dev, test, production). We
all share each of these. Reading through the Check-In/Check-Out information
I could find, everything speaks of a different set-up (dev [my local
machine], test, production). With this the developers only share test and
production and each has his/her own dev. We share dev.

My question is, will the Check-In/Check-Out still work? Are there any
problems I should anticipate?
