Default Display nested layers - 07-08-2004 , 01:51 PM

Greetings! I am having problems getting my nested layers to display the way I
expect them to.

I have created a wide layer and nested a narrower layer inside of the wide
layer. I did not put in a height on either of these layers so they would
expand and contract with the content. I placed some text into the smaller
layer.

The problem I am having is that the larger layer is not displaying and does
not size with the smaller layer. I have attached the code for my display page
and my style sheet.

The smaller layer will not cause the outer layer to resize *if you have used
DW's inline layers*.

Show me your code, please.

By the way, attachments are discouraged for this and other Macromedia
forums, and to make matters worse, they do not carry forward from the
webforums into the NNTP forums, which is where most of the people who post
answers are visiting. If you want to broadcast your code so that everyone
can see it, the only real way is a) to paste it into a reply (not great if
there is lots of code), or b) to upload it somewhere and post a URI to it.

Be aware that if you paste voluminous quantities of code into a reply, the
code may get truncated when transferring to the NNTP forum. This can be
quite confusing to both poster, and reader. The best bet would be to upload
the page and post a URI.

Hello Flash,

My primary goal is to develop a css template that I can use throughout my site. How am I complicating things?

I took the inline style off of my div and everything is working as I expected it to now.

Thank you for the help!

You don't really need layers to do this I'd use a simple table with hieght 100%
and width 100%... on a smaller screen layers are hard to control they tend to
over lap one another, for example the button template is getting cut off when I
change my res to 800-600.

Be aware that your 100% table height will be ignored on any DMX2004 created
page, or on any page containing a valid doctype.

We were not planning on using any tables. Is 100% height on a div the same as the 100% height on a table?
