I recently discovered that when you view a popup in IE -vs- Netscape, The window in Netscape previews approx. 1/8" smaller from the right and from the bottom even though the chromes are exactly the same. This is a popup with a menu bar only. There are no scroll bars or any other attributes.
Can anyone tell me why this is so? Especially when I have specified an exact pixel width and height? Both browsers should treat pixels for window sizes the same shouldn't they? It's not like pixels with type...
For the longest time, I couldn't figure out why I had white space around my popup in IE but not Netscape. I thought it was a margin thing. I then adjusted my popup size to get rid of it. The white space is gone, but when I preview in Netscape I'm losing about an 1/8" on the right and bottom. It looks like the page is off center. |
Maybe the more technically oriented people here can explain in detail,
but roughly it is because NN has it's own scroll, which is included in
the browser window real estate. IE is using the system scroll and it's
added to the window size.
